Obviously the weight loss must be maintained by a good, healthy, well balanced diet and exercise and a person should have a plan in place to help them lose more weight or maintain their new weight. However, these types of diets may provide a person exactly what they need at a particular time and thus may be very beneficial.

Lots of negative things have been said about diets that allow persons to lose weight very quickly. The primary complaints about such diets are that they are unhealthy, they don’t encourage long-term weight loss and the weight that people do lose will be difficult to keep off because it’s nearly impossible to maintain a restrictive diet for a very long amount of time. These things are absolutely true. However, there are some good things about quick weight loss diets. They can be great motivators. If a person can drop those first 10 pounds this may give them motivation to stick to a diet until they are able to lose all the weight that they need. Losing weight fast can also benefit persons who have health problems or who need to drop weight before a medical procedure such as surgery.

While there are benefits to losing weight quickly, it is vitally important that a person find a good and sensible maintenance diet plan that will allow them to eat a variety of food in sensible portions and also that they begin to incorporate exercise into their lifestyle. Only by adopting these types of life style changes will they be able to keep the weight off permanently.
