So much about losing weight is mental. If a person is not in the right frame of mind or is not mentally ready to diet, then they will likely fail. Persons must find ways to get and stay motivated if they want to take off the weight and keep it off. There are a number of ways to get charged up (and stay that way) to lose weight. We will discuss a few of them below.
Â
Buy Stickers: Stickers aren’t just for kids anymore. There are now stickers available on the market just for dieters. They are printed with sayings such as “Great Snack,” and “Low Cal.” You can place them on your food containers or stick them in your food journal to keep you motivated or as rewards. Â
Â
Keep A Journal: Keeping a journal is a great way to keep the weight off. There are two types of journals that are very good for dieters, a food journal and a regular one. A regular journal can be really effective because it gives persons a chance to write down their feelings. Some times we overeat because there are unresolved emotional issues that we are dealing with (or not dealing with). A journal gives us a chance to deal with those feelings and hopefully avoid eating foods that we don’t need.
Â
A food journal is helpful because it gives us a chance to see exactly what we are eating. Often times, we underestimate the amount of food and calories that we intake. When the numbers on the scale start to creep up, most of us are surprised. A food journal provides an honest record of the food that we consume each day.

Find Quotes: Dieting can be tough. It is important to do what you can to stay focused and mentally strong. Â Quotes can be very motivating. Take some time and find quotes that encourage you to stick it out even when you feel like quitting. You can find them every where, books, the internet, magazines, etc.
Â
Find Inspirational People: Read stories about people who have lost a large amount of weight and have kept it off. If they can do it, so can you. Re-read their stories when you get discouraged.
Â
Talk it Out: Talking, especially for women (I’m a woman too) can be quite therapeutic. A good talk can be better then ice cream (or whatever fattening food that you enjoy). If you have family members or friends that you can talk to when you get tempted to cheat on your diet, this can be very helpful.
Â
The mental part of weight loss is just as important as the physical part. If you are not mentally ready to lose weight, you likely won’t be able to. What will probably happen is that you will start a diet, stop it and then re-start it. This can be incredibly frustrating and won’t get you the results that you want. To avoid this, be proactive and find things to keep you motivated so that you can stick to your diet and lose the weight that you want.
