The Basics of The 90/10 Diet

13760If you are anything like me, you have tried most fad diets that are available through information through friends and family members and on the internet. Although I must say that I have never heard anything about the 90/10 diet – the facts intrigued me! Here is everything that you need to know about the basics of the 90/10 diet:

The 90/10 diet is comparable to other diets that focus on regulating hormones such as insulin and glucose within the body – to promote a healthy bodily system and weight loss. Similar to the Zone diet which advocates the same effects on the body and can promote weight loss this way – the 90/10 diet can be a healthy way to lose weight.

90% of the food within your daily diet should come from sensible choices which should relate to the food which is being consumed. This should be low fat choices of fruits, vegetables and whole grains in combination with lean proteins. The last 10% of the diet is fun choices that can reflect cravings and some of your favorite foods. The ten percent of the diet refers to sugars and other refined carbohydrates – which should be avoided in the 90% of the sensible food choices.

This balanced diet can assist in weight loss as it promotes that 90% of the food choices should be healthy. From that ratio alone, a healthy weight loss can be maintained when the diet is combined with regular exercise.

Are you looking for a diet that combines some fun choices with a healthy meal plan? If you are looking to indulge these choices than this diet could be for you! It is relatively easy to follow and the ten percent can be used to indulge these cravings. If you have these indulgences within your daily meal plan than it has been proven that people have been less likely to cheat during the diet.

There are three levels of calories that are used in the diet. These calorie levels are 1,200, 1,400 and 1,600 and use a combination of healthy foods with “Treats” or “Incentives” which can help to reduce the cravings that are seen through a regular diet. The meal plans are provided to the dieter and can provide a welcome change to yo-yo diets that can often yield little to no results. Sticking to the same amount of calories per day can achieve weight loss throughout the weeks in which the diet is being followed!

The diet can achieve a weight loss of up to ten pounds in the first two weeks that the diet is being followed. This weight loss can be seen when regular exercise is used in conjunction with the meal plans that are being provided. Once the weight loss has been achieved, this can be used as motivation to continue with the meal plan. Of course, this is combined with the fact that the dieter can make these small indulgences which can keep the dieter on track!
