The Flat Belly Diet

bellyMany people who are overweight are extremely concerned about having too much fat around their abdomen. Having a fat belly can be dangerous (syndrome x) and can make it really difficult to fit into clothes properly or attractively. In an effort to correct this, some individuals do hundreds of crunches and sit ups each day but to no avail. What they do not know is that it just about impossible to spot reduce. This means that doing crunches or sit ups will not solve the problem. Now, this does not mean that these types of exercises should be excluded. Instead, persons must take a holistic approach to shrink their middles. This will include diet and exercise.

A flat belly diet will be one that:

Is low in bad fat and high in good fat- Bad fats are just that, bad. They will cause you to gain weight and will make it very difficult for your six pack to become visible to the world. Individuals will need to cut out bad fats and instead replace them with good fats if they want to see results. Good fats are contained in foods such as fish (salmon, tuna, etc.)

Includes plenty of vegetables and fruits- Eating lots of vegetables and fruits instead of sugary and fat laden snacks is an easy way to replace bad calories with good ones. Persons that eat lots of fruits and vegetables also tend to be thinner.

Limit junk calories: Most foods are fine in moderation. It is only when individuals eat too much of these types of foods that this becomes a problem. Eat a few empty calories but forgo the binging.

Don’t forget to exercise. Try the following:

Some type of cardio- Doing some type of cardio exercise on a regular basis is one of the most important steps in getting a flat belly or even six pack abs. Cardio exercise helps to burn calories and get rid of stored fat. It will be very difficult to burn fat from your stomach if you do not do some sort of cardio on a consistent basis.

Strength training- Strength training is excellent for burning fat all over the body. Lifting weights is a very effective way to burn both fat and calories. When a person is able to do this, not only will they be able to flatten their abs but also lose weight all over. It is not necessary to lift like a bodybuilder. Simple exercises that use “just enough” weight works fine. “Just enough” weight  is that which is challenging but won’t cause injury.

Stomach exercises- Now stomach exercises (crunches, sit-ups, etc.) are not bad in themselves. They just won’t be able to provide the flat belly results that one will likely want, by them selves. Instead, individuals will need to work out their entire bodies and watch what they eat. If they leave out this part of the process, then they will not be able to lose weight in their stomach area. When individuals do take a comprehensive approach, sit-ups and crunches can be quite helpful.
