There are two types of fat which are often consumed in the diet, saturated fats and unsaturated fats. When you learn about the good fats that should be included in the diet – you can begin to design a program that includes these good fats – while avoiding the bad fats. Choosing the good fats can actually lead to weight loss within a diet program. Here are some ways that you can implement good fats into your diet and benefit from the results.
There is one main difference between saturated and unsaturated fats. Saturated fats become hard when they are exposed to room temperatures, where unsaturated fats will remain in their natural state – such as liquid or soft state. Bacon fat and grease is a great example of saturated fat, as it becomes hard once it has become cooled and off of the stove. This type of fat can mimic the behavior in the body and cause hardening within the arteries.
Where is saturated fat found? Saturated fats are mostly found within dairy and meat products that are consumed on a regular basis. Saturated fats are often associated with high cholesterol and include cheese, lard and certain types of butters. It is important to limit the amount of saturated fats that are consumed within the food plan. The body is unable to process saturated fats to create a beneficial effect on the body.
These two types of fat are used differently within the body. Saturated fats cannot be used for positive purposes within the body, whereas unsaturated fats allow the body to attach hydrogen atoms throughout the digestion process, therefore becoming beneficial to the bodily processes.
To effectively lose weight, it can be beneficial to avoid saturated fats within the diet. Reducing the amount of saturated fats within the body could lead to weight loss as fewer calories are being consumed and fewer grams of fat are being absorbed within the body.
There are two types of unsaturated fats, these are; monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats. These types of fat can be found in foods such as, olive oil, avocados, nuts and other types of oils. The fat within these foods can be used for good within the body for everything from boosting the immune system to allowing amino acids to maintain their role within the bodily processes. These good types of fats are essential for healthy skin and healthy hair. Most dieters are aware of the beneficial aspects of Omega-fatty acids; polyunsaturated fats are known as omega fatty acids and necessary within a balanced diet.
Unsaturated fats have the ability to clean the arteries, as opposed to saturated fats which can assist in clogging the arteries and causing such events such as heart disease and stroke. Many of these essential fatty acids cannot be created through bodily processes and therefore must be found in healthy foods that we eat, containing high levels of these healthy fats. When you ensure that you are following a balanced diet and are aware of the types of fat that you are ingesting – you can promote weight loss – rather than creating weight gain.
