diet-2The Reverse Calorie Diet is a fairly new diet created by Tricia Cunningham. Cunningham essentially lost weight by eating in reverse. She would consume her biggest meals in the morning and then pare down her food choices toward the end of the day. This allowed her body to burn the majority of the calories when it was most active, in the beginning of the day. When the body’s calorie burning ability slowed down in the evenings, she would eat less food. Eating this way allowed her to shave off the pounds without starving herself.

While this diet plan sounds pretty simple and even promising, the big question is, will it work for you? Well, the short answer is maybe. Really it depends. Ask yourself the following questions. If you answer yes to the majority of them, then this diet may work just fine for you. If not, you may need to keep looking for a plan that works for you.

Do You Do Breakfast?: If you a person that enjoys a big breakfast then the Reverse Calorie Diet may be a good pick. However, if you never eat breakfast and have no desire to then skip out on this one.

Do You Get Up Early Enough In The Morning?:  In order for this diet to work you will have to either get up early and cook a big breakfast or be willing to eat leftovers. The majority of your calories will be consumed in the and early afternoon so you will need to be OK cooking it yourself or have the money to go and purchase a big breakfast or lunch.

Are You Willing To Cook or Eat Leftovers?: If you don’t want to cook, then you may need to save food from the night before and eat it in the morning. This will allow you to get by without having to make a big fuss in the kitchen. This is especially true for persons who do not like to cook and also for those who are extremely busy and don’t have enough time in the morning.

Can You Handle Late Evening Cravings?: Some people won’t be able to handle not eating a lot during the evening and at night. A salad may not be satisfying enough. If you know that you won’t be able to handle this, then forgo this diet because it won’t work. You will end up wasting your time and effort.

Here are some tips to get the most out of this diet: You might also want to consider reducing the number of carbs that you eat throughout the day and not eating after 7:00 p.m.  It is also important to limit or avoid alcohol, sugar and soda. You can eat any type of vegetables that you want, along with olive oil, eggs, lemons, fruit, chicken, seafood and oatmeal. Cooking with olive oil is great. You also need to drink plenty of water, including a few glasses of hot water with lemon.

The Reverse Calorie Diet is a pretty new diet but it has been getting a lot of buzz. It works for some people but won’t work for everyone. If you are person who likes to eat breakfast or who is willing to start, then this may work for you. However, if you would rather eat evenly throughout the day and do not want to taper your calories then this may be one diet that you might want to skip out on.
