alli2Many of us have seen the commercials with well-known celebrities that promote one of the newest weight loss drugs, Alli. Whether you need to lose ten pounds, or even a few more, Alli is an effective but reduced weight loss version of Xenical (Another weight loss drug). When used in combination with exercise and a low calorie diet, it can be an effective weight loss tool for an adult; and Alli is available over the counter. Most patients can expect to lose a modest amount of weight after making the decision to begin the course of treatment.

What happens when you take a dose of Alli? When you take a dose of Alli, it blocks the absorption of fat in the intestines, reducing the amount of fat which is absorbed from the food that we consume. Alli has the power to decrease the amount of calories which are actually absorbed into the body. Alli is taken with every meal to become effective as the undigested fat is then moved through the intestine and excreted through the bowel.

When you make the decision to take Alli, you must make the commitment to enjoy a low calorie diet, as there are side effects that may occur when high levels of fat are consumed within the body. Any amount over fifteen grams of fat should not be consumed at one time. What happens when you consume more fat than fifteen grams of fat per meal? Diarrhea can occur immediately after the food has been eaten and can cause oily discharge within the bowel movement.

Alli is effective for six months after the patient has begun to take the medication. Most patients cease the medication after this time but can continue to lose weight with a low calorie diet and a regular exercise program. Using these methods, you can expect to lose a healthy amount of weight or maintain the healthy weight that you have achieved.

Of course, like many other diet medications there are side effects that may occur from taking the popular weight loss supplements: the patient may experience gas, loose stools, frequent and hard to control bowel movements.

Should you take Alli? Alli should be taken for those who are overweight and have a few pounds that they need to lose. Patients that are pregnant, or breastfeeding or have had an organ transplant in the past should not take Alli. Patients that have problems or known disturbances when food is being absorbed within the body should not take Alli, as it can further the problem.

Alli is not used as the sole means to lose weight. It is important to combine the treatment with exercise and diet into a program that will contribute to a weight loss change. Alli is merely a tool that will enable you to lose weight with a traditional low calorie diet complimented by partaking in an exercise program.
