There are many ways that you can increase the amount of calories that you burn on a daily basis. After all, burning calories is the only way to increase the weight which is lost – and it doesn’t have to be boring or consist of traditional exercise. Burning calories can be as easy as completing activities around the house or simply using activities with your children to burn calories.

For instance, there are ways that we can up the amount of calories that have been burned though vigorous spring cleaning, washing walls and multitasking while cleaning various parts of the house. If you spend up to two hours per day cleaning – even less vigorous cleaning than you could be putting in as much of workout as going to the gym!

• Alternate cleaning on each level of the home so you are encouraged to go up and down the stairs and move from room to room. When you move from room to room while going up and down the stairs you are giving yourself the opportunity to burn more calories.
• Stop leaving a pile at the bottom of the stairs and making one trip. The alternative of taking one load at a time up the stairs and placing the item where it belongs can burn more calories and allow you to get a better workout while building muscle tone on the stairs.
• Bend and stretch during your workouts to encourage the floor to counter level bending. Rather than placing everything on one table it is important to enable the items to be reached for. Remember – every single calorie counts when you are trying to burn calories by working out in the household.
