Some health and beauty professionals do not believe that cellulite can be reduced though the use of lotions, creams and/or gels. Instead, they suggest that the only lasting and permanent way to get rid of cellulite is through exercise and diet.
Exercise increases the amount of lean muscle in the body while decreasing fat. The lower a person’s body fat percentage is, the less opportunity fat has to push through the connective tissue underneath the skin. This is what causes the rippling appearance of cellulite.
Lotions and gels either plump up the skin or dehydrate the fat cells. However, they only work for a short amount of time. Depending on how much cellulite a person has, they might not be very effective at all. These types of over-the-counter products promise to only improve the appearance of cellulite but not completely get rid it.
You may have noticed that people of all sizes and shapes have cellulite. People can be very thin and still have cellulite because cellulite is caused by a number of factors. It is not about how much you weigh but the amount fat that you carry throughout your body, how thin or thick one’s skin is, the condition of their connective tissue and perhaps, the amount of toxins in the body. Exercise not only helps individuals strengthen their muscles and burn fat but also to get rid of the toxins that can contribute to cellulite.
When a person exercises and lifts weights, their muscles tighten and become toned, while the amount of fat that they have decreases. Toned muscles may also be able to strengthen the connective tissues and keep the fat from pushing through the gaps in the connective tissue. Exercise and weight training also helps people burn more fat even when they are not exercising. The more muscle that a person has, the more calories and fat they will be able to burn throughout the day.
Even though individuals who aren’t overweight often develop cellulite, individuals that are overweight, tend to suffer from cellulite a great deal. To improve it, exercise and weight lifting are two great options for reducing it.
The right exercises will be those that target the areas where a person has problems with cellulite. These areas might include one’s hips, thighs, stomach and buttocks. Leg curls, lunges and squats are great for the butt, hip and thigh areas.
Aerobic exercises such as walking, jogging, swimming are also very beneficial, as is weightlifting. Individuals don’t have to lift a lot of weights but challenging oneself and working until they perspire will go a long way to improving their cellulite. Leg curls and squats are very easy exercises to perform. It is not even necessary to actually use weights. Individual can perform body bearing exercises. Go for two or three sets of 10-12 reps. If this is done three to four times a week, this should tone up the leg muscles and buttocks.
Combining aerobic exercise and weight training can really improve and reduce one’s cellulite. This type of movement will help decrease the amount of fat in one’s body, which will give it less opportunity to be pushed through the connective tissue and show up as cellulite.
