Common metabolism busters include waiting too long between meals, not exercising, not drinking enough water, not getting the proper nutrients and not getting enough for rest.

Waiting Too Long Between Meals: This is a common metabolism buster.  Many people grew up when the common knowledge was to eat three square meals a day. Today, health professionals have found that waiting long periods of time between eating meals can have a negative impact your metabolism. This is because your body begins to go into starvation mode and will hold on to stored calories and fat because it’s not sure when you are going to eat again. It’s best to eat small meals on a regular basis. Try to eat around the same time every day so that your body leans to expect calories and it doesn’t fear that you are going to starve. It is important to note that these meals should be either high in good fats or low in bad fats and they should be balanced.

Not Exercising: Refusing to exercise is another huge metabolism buster. You need to exercise in order to lose weight. Diet plans that don’t require you to exercise will only work temporarily.  Many popular plans may give you different types of pills and supplement to lose weight.  Once you stop using them, you will surely gain the weight back that you lost and probably a lot more. A commonsense approach to weight which requires exercise is very important to boosting your metabolism. Exercise will increase the amount of muscle in your body which will help you burn more calories.

Not Drinking Enough Water: Water is very important to the body. The body is made up mostly of water and therefore it needs an ample amount of it.  Water helps to flush out toxins from your body and also ensures that the systems within your body of work most efficiently.

Not Getting the Proper Nutrients: Not having the right amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals can be detrimental to your metabolism.  Again, having the right amount of these types of things in your system will make sure that your body works optimally.  When you don’t have them, the body will do the best that it can but it won’t perform as it should.

Not Getting Enough Rest: Not getting enough rest is also a metabolism buster.  Your body needs a proper amount of rest so that it can restore itself. When you are tired and run down, your metabolism will suffer and so will other things such as your immune system and your mood.
