It seems like everyday, there is a new and more effective way to easily shed those unwanted pounds. Desperate to lose weight, many of us keep watch faithfully for the newest fad diet or weight loss advice and then follow it blindly hoping that this next discovery will finally be the cure all for our weight gain. Well, I’m introducing one more, cycling carbs.

I know we have heard about eliminating carbs, reducing them and then only eating complex ones. Today, we are going to discuss cycling them. Some weight loss experts believe that this is the best way to consume carbs and still lose weight.

There are a number of ways to cycle carbs. One way is to simply not eat them for three straight days and then eat a ton of them on day four. Once you reach day five, you simply start over. Some popular diet plans like the Weight Loss 4 Idiots Diet takes this approach. They suggest that followers shift calories and not eliminate them. Cycling is one way to accomplish this

Carb cycling works very well when it comes to losing weight fast. However, it does require that you are disciplined because you will not be able to eat any carbs for days at a time. There are some risks here. Your body could slow down your metabolism because it believes you are starving. This would of course give you the results that you most want to avoid.

Another option and one that might work better for most people is to alternate days where you eat no carbs, with days where you eat some. This option is not as strict and will likely be a lot easier for most people to adhere to. By eating carbs on some days and not on others, you will trick your body into burning morefat and calories. You also won’t trigger your body to produce hormones that will slow down your metabolism because it doesn’t think that you are starving.

It is very easy to consume a diet that is extremely high in carbohydrates. Why? Because simply put, carbohydrates tastes good. Often they are our comfort foods. Cakes, cookies, macaroni and cheese and other pasta dishes are yummy, help satisfy our cravings and help us feel better temporarily. Generally, the only times that we dislike carbs is when we look in the mirror and see how much weight we have added to our frame from gorging on them.

One way to lose weight and still be able to eat carbs is to cycle them. By simply alternating how much we eat, we can trick our bodies into burning more fat without increasing output or exercise. Of course, if you are really committed to losing weight, especially long term and want your body to be toned and tight, you will need to exercise. There is no substitute for it. You can lose weight by simply changing your eating habits but imagine how much more weight you could lose by combining smart dieting tricks with physical movement!
