Don’t Be Sucked In By Slick Diet Advertising

done28099t-be-sucked-in-by-slick-diet-advertisingThere are many rules and many guidelines that you must follow to complete many of them. Some diets insist that you eat what they say eat and when they say, others specify that you must take supplements, usually expensive ones, along with their diet plans. And finally, the most common diet plan of them all is the “milkshake that replaces your normal dinner one”.

The diets that stipulate which foods you must eat and which foods you may not, will certainly lead to disaster, if you find yourselves quickly hiding and eating a chocolate cookie when the plan says you cannot eat it until tomorrow.

Many times, a diet that has been sworn by a celebrity to work, as they have lost 20lbs. In fact many of the diets that have been promoted, are overpriced and are overly fussy and do not allow for the average working person to easily lose weight.

There have been numerous adverts on the TV offering “a pill a day and see the weight drop off” promises with regard to diet pill supplements, all that happens in reality is that the weight drops off the bottom of your bank balance and you are left feeling a few dollars lighter

They are there in the supermarket aisles, the weight watching meals, all glossy and shiny, promising low in fat and low in calorie delights.

The chocolate cookies that don’t taste like chocolate cookies as the sugar content has be left out. The ready meals that promise to taste like home cooked meals and taste like they have been microwave again and again. They promise you the earth and you are charged for it.

Forget all the marketing, the special offers and the slogans about losing five pounds in five days. Look at your cooking methods and try adding a little olive oil to your cooking and a little more protein to your meals.

Fish, eggs, cheese and chicken all contain protein and can make you feel full and can banish the hunger pangs. By just adjusting a little in your eating habits and by eating this way, will make you feel less inclined not to take a detour to the sweet cupboard.

Save money, sit back and think about what you eat and what you could cut back on. Try to get rid of the junk food, add a few fresh vegetables and fruit to your diet. Replace white bread and white sugar with brown bread and brown sugar. Try using olive oil in your cooking rather then normal sunflower oil.

Have a look around at where you live, is there somewhere where you can buy locally grown produce. Buying it locally could save you money and be more nutritious for you.

Allow yourself that little treat but don’t over indulge. Make yourself follow these steps; if you really want to lose weight and not lose money, try this method, you are losing nothing by trying.

When, Where and How to Weigh Yourself

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

untitledAt one point or another when dieting we have all been guilty of weighing ourselves too much through the weight loss process. Many dieters are unsure when to weigh themselves and how often they should be doing it.
There are many tips and rules that are recommended by health care professionals and weight loss experts, but how do you determine the truth between the many conflicting opinions? Here are some answers that can help to know when to weigh yourself to get the most accurate results of your true weight.

Learning when to weigh yourself to track weight loss is an essential part of the weight loss process. Weighing yourself should be completed first thing in the morning to get the best results, after you have gone to the bathroom. This can reduce the swelling or bloating that can occur through the day after certain foods have been consumed.

If the morning is not best, perhaps waiting until later in the day can also be an effective means to weigh yourself as long as you remain consistent to this time of day at future weigh ins. This way, your body can remain regulated through the weight loss.

How Should You Track Your Weight Loss?
Tracking weight loss is essential to determine any patterns in the weight loss program. Weight loss should be tracked each time that you weigh yourself and can be used through a weight loss journal. In the weight loss journal food and calories, as well as exercise should be included in the weight loss journal.

Tracking the weight loss can be an effective way to track the weight loss, as well as the body mass index. This can be a great way to determine if you are indeed doing everything that you can to reach your goals that you have set for your weight loss program. If you are able to monitor the progress that you have seen through the program, it can be easy to determine if changes are required within the weight loss program.

How Often Should You Weigh Yourself?
The weight is something that can fluctuate from day to day; therefore, it is important to avoid weighing yourself multiple times per day or even weighing yourself daily. The best results when you are trying to lose weight are to weigh yourself weekly to get effective and accurate results of your weight.

If you weigh yourself too often, it can be difficult to celebrate the small goals which are reached. Small goals can be celebrated by weighing yourself each week to determine how much weight has been lost by following the weight loss program.

Knowing when, how and where to weigh yourself can make the difference in being able to monitor the progress that has been made through the weight loss program.

Three Weight Loss Myths

weight-loss1Learning the truth about diets is an essential way to be successful in the weight loss program that you are trying to complete. Following a diet based on one fact or the results of one person can be a grave mistake in the weight loss process, but unfortunately there are thousands of people each year that hear something about a diet trend and follow this diet, at the risk of their health.

Here are some diet myths that you should avoid in order to see success in the weight loss program that you have chosen to follow.

Myth: Eliminating all Foods from a Certain Food Group can lead to Weight Loss

The truth is that there is one way to attain weight loss. Weight loss can be attained through the process of maintaining a balanced diet. A balanced diet will include a combination of lean proteins, fruits and vegetables as well as the dreaded carbohydrates that have received such as bad reputation in the weight loss circles. A balanced diet ensures that your body is ready to complete the weight loss process and maintain the health of each cell and system within the body. Ensuring that your bodily systems are in harmony can mean the difference of shedding those unwanted pounds.

Myth: Being Hungry Leads to Weight Loss

Did you know that once your body enters a state of starvation that it can be difficult to reverse the process? The state of starvation means that the body is going to absorb all of the nutrients, as well as the good and the bad products from the foods that you consume and store these foods for the future. In the case that the body is in a state of starvation, like from an extremely low calorie diet – it can actually lead to weight gain, rather than weight loss.

A state of starvation can be difficult to escape and rids your body of muscle mass, leading to a low metabolic rate which can make it even more difficult to lose weight. There is no reason that one should follow an extreme calorie restricted diet. Instead, focusing on a well balanced diet that can leave you satisfied throughout the day means that the dieter will be less susceptible to those cravings that come just before work is complete for the day and leave you on a mad rush to the vending machine.

Myth: The Only way to get Enough Protein is to fill up On Meat

There are many other foods that even contain higher amounts of protein than meat and these foods are often lower in fat and healthier for the body. Foods such as nuts and other legumes contain essential fatty acids which can lead to weight loss as well as help the development of the organs in the brain and promote heart health.
Lean proteins, green vegetables, nuts, tofu and dairy products are all products that should be consumed on a healthy and balanced diet to ensure that the dieter can lose the maximum of weight possible, healthily.
