When most people are attempting to lose weight, they only focus on diet and exercise. What they do not know is that they are often setting themselves up for failure. It can be very difficult to lose weight (thus the huge weight loss industry). This is partly because people don’t entirely understand what it takes. To be perfectly honest, it’s not their fault. There is so much that weight loss “experts” leave out. Sometimes this is by design and other times, new technologies or weight loss methods are discovered and you may not have the most updated information.Â
One very new discovery is that there is a brain chemistry connection to weight gain. We will discuss these new findings below. After you read this article, consider putting what is written into use. You may soon find that losing weight is much easier then in the past.
Most women are deficient in certain brain chemicals which cause them to gain weight, feel stressed and tired. If a woman is able to identify which chemicals (if any) that she is deficient in, she will no longer have to deal with these troublesome symptoms. Luckily, many of these brain chemical imbalances can be fixed by simply changing the type of foods that we eat.
If your brain is not making enough Dopamine, then you may have strong sugar cravings, eat too much when you are stressed out, have a big belly, are tired even after you have slept a sufficient amount of hours and feel better after you drink soda, coffee or tea. Dopamine encourages the body’s cells to use food and fat as brain fuel. When there is not enough of it in the brain, persons often drag and feel tired. Their metabolism will also slow down and cause rapid weight gain. In order to increase your levels of dopamine, you should eat at least a single serving of dairy (low fat) and poultry at every meal. Turkey, chicken and certain cheeses are good choices because they contain tyrosine and phenylalanine. Both of these are amino acids that help to generate dopamine.
Many women who are overweight may also not have enough Acetylcholine. Some common symptoms of low levels of this brain chemical include cravings for foods that contain a lot of fat, forgetfulness, weight gain, loss of muscle tone, dry skin, feelings of agitation and wanting to be left alone. If this is your problem, you can help remedy it by consuming at least 3 servings of healthy fats. Eggs, fatty fish (ex.salmon), avocados, nuts and olive oil are all excellent choices. These are effective because they contain lots of vitamin B, particularly choline. This vitamin is turned into acetylcholine. Consuming enough can help keep your appetite in check and increase the amount of fat burned around the belly and improve energy levels.
Not having enough serotonin can also cause you to gain weight. If you crave carbohydrates and salty food, eat too much even when you are not hungry and feel drained, your serotonin levels may be too low. In order to increase them, eat two servings of lean proteins a day. Try shrimp, tuna or chicken.
