Ten Ways to Keep the Pounds off… Permanently!

tofu11_7A dieter’s worst nightmare is to shed the pounds with the use of a rigid diet program, cutting calories and regular exercise only to have the pounds slowly reappear when you stop the weight loss process. There are certain lifestyle changes that should be made to keep the pounds from making an appearance – after the diet has been completed.

Use these tips to keep the pounds off – even after you have stopped dieting:

1. Fill up on healthy foods and drinks. If you are going to an event fill up with a large glass of water or fruit juice to quell off cravings and help fight the unhealthy foods that are going to lead to increase weight loss.

2. Fill up on salad! Start every meal with a salad and it can lead to less food being consumed in the main course.

3. Keep exercising. Regular exercise is a part of a healthy lifestyle and should be included to maintain the weight loss that has been accomplished at this point.

4. Find low fat snacks that you enjoy. These snacks can include veggies and whole grain breads combined with dips and spreads made from vegetables that are chock full of nutrients!

5. Keep drinking the water. It is essential for the body to get at least eight glasses of water per day. Water is crucial for the process of burning calories and is crucial to maintain hydration of the body, especially through an exercise program. Water is essential in flushing fat and toxins from the system to maintain weight loss.

6. Smaller portions equal smaller plates. Many people who have experienced weight loss use smaller plates when eating for the rest of their life. Smaller plates allow you to automatically create smaller portions for yourself, which can maintain the weight loss. When the plate is empty, your body feels full – one of the great feats of weight loss!

7. Don’t forget your old habits. Remember when you used to track everything that you ate while you were following the weight loss program? Experts recommend that we continue to track everything we eat after the weight loss and examine it to ensure that we can keep the weight off with our newly found eating habits.

8. Allow yourself to indulge. When you allow yourself to have small portions it reduces the risk that you are going to over indulge on this item when you have been deprived of the taste for an extended period of time.

9. Keep eating! Studies have shown that we make bad food decisions when we are hungry or have not eaten for a long period of time. Smaller meals throughout the day can assist in maintaining the healthy weight, rather than one large meal at the end of the day!

10. Get rid of clothing that is too large. When we keep these safety items in our closet we are allowing ourselves to reach that size again. Only keep clothes that currently fit to ensure that you stay on track with the weight loss program.
